Occupational Therapy is a health care profession that is concerned with restoring useful physical functionality following disabling accidents and sickness.  The goal of occupational therapy is to assist the patient in achieving the maximum level of independent function.

Occupational Therapy Program for Cardiopulmonary Monitoring

 

For patients utilizing our Cardiopulmonary Home Care Program, Occupational Therapy Services may include:

  • Education in the principles and application of energy conservation techniques
  • Maximize independence with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) with or without the use of adaptive equiptment
  • Instruction in the use of adaptive equiptment
  • Teach proper breathing techniques with application to ADLs
  • Instruction on how to control shortness of breath during ADLs
  • Activity configuration for planning daily activities to provide a balance of work, play and rest
  • Instruction in exercises that incorporate and reinforce proper breathing patterns
